Top customer reviewsBy Phillip Shepherd on 11th December 2023 Amazing Gi great quality, really comfortable! By Ian on 29th June 2019 It's a good suit, but not perfect.
I've only had gis with elasticated waists before, and this tie version isn't great. I got the 170cm version, and the length of the trouser is perfect for me (34R), but the waist must be about 48in; it's huge. So I have to sort of fold round the top and tie it tight, then end up adjusting it and re-tying it during a session. I'm just waiting for them to come undone and fall down during a fight.
The jacket is a great fit, and comfy. Note that the thickness of the cotton means that you get hot - like working out in a jumper. Note also that the thickness of the material means that a) ironing is absolutely necessary, and b) ironing takes a long time!
The gi comes in a well made but ultimately pointless bag - I'd rather it had just been a couple of quid cheaper.
The only reason for my 3 star rating is the trouser width - if you could chose a waist size, or it was elasticated, it would be a 4-5. By Nieky on 9th January 2019 Really lovely gi, and amazing service. Got a 175 first, exchanged it for a 170, I'm 179. No quibbles, replacement turned up a few days later. By Ismael on 5th May 2018 Bought two of these 10 years ago and I swear by them. Still feel solid wash well stay white keep their shape and fit perfect. Only downsides are drawstrings too light they rip up quickly. Need to buy sturdy ones to replace. Also thick suit so keeps you a tad too warm. By Mr lowe on 26th March 2018 Bought this gi not expecting much but my was I wrong ! The quality of the 14oz cotton is second to none. The finish on the cuffs and hems on the bottoms are fantastic, maybe a bit heavy for summer training but a fantastic gi for the money. Wouldn't look past the sliver tournament gi! By Gary Johnston on 10th January 2018 Have an Odachi in size 7 but the body is a little narrow so when I saw this on offer I got one in a size 8. The arms and legs are a bit long (but this was expected and can easily be adjusted, I may also adjust the jacket length) although the jacket width is ideal which is exactly what I need. All in I’m very happy with this Gi and for the price it was a steel. As mentioned above I’ll be adjusting the length of the sleeves and trousers but I’d heartily recommend if you’re looking for a new Gi. The quality of the material is fantastic and it looks like it’ll last a long time. All in a quality product. By Peter Sangster on 9th November 2017 This is a great comfortable Gi for the Money. By Alba on 24th September 2017 Fantastic suit fits perfectly I am a very happy customer and I would order another from this seller. By Deirdre Kenny on 17th June 2017 Prompt service. Would recommend By gd_reviewer on 3rd March 2017 Very nice material with a soft touch. Not so sure about the waist straps though, time will tell. The Adidas waist straps are made of the same material as the Gi whereas the Blitz waist straps are made of another fabric. By Richard Atkins on 7th October 2016 Beautifully made quality Gi but I went for my correct height and as I am overweight it is far too tight in the body and legs and restricts my movement. Next time I buy a quality Gi I will go somewhere where I can try it on. By Bob Heron on 21st April 2016 Good Quality suit -as described By Elizabeth Hill on 19th January 2016 was a good fit By Mrs N. on 8th October 2015 This is a brilliant suit that I highly recommend! It looks smart, has plenty of movement and never needs adjusting during karate. By Andy Chellew on 5th August 2015 An excellent suit great fit I would recommend to anyone By Rory Smith on 8th June 2015 We have purchased this suit before for my husband it is excellent quality and very good value for money. By Matt on 23rd February 2015 Really good value for money I'd highly recommend to anyone! By Paul on 27th November 2014 First heavy weight Gi I have bought and the difference from training in a lightweight one is huge. This is a very comfortable suit for training and competing. Retains a bit of sweat obviously due to the material but, its not noticeable when training. Great feel and comfort. By Mick on 27th November 2014 Great Gi and good value. The club purchase the silver tournament and recommend them to our students. No complaints yet. Excellent service from Blitz By Chris Burgin-Lynch on 25th November 2014 Brought this suit a couple of years ago, loved it for the first 6 months then became unhappy with spending hours ironing it. If you are training a number of times a week use a lighter suit and save this one for best. Less time ironing more time training. By amanda wright on 23rd November 2014 Great quality & sizing - nice longer style jacket & perfect length trousers - washes beautifully & drys fairly quickly - comfortable to wear & affords good movement. By Adam on 21st November 2014 I brought one of theses suits, great price, great suit. Brought 2 belts as well very very good. Id recommend to anyone. By Matt Gossage on 11th November 2014 The lightweight polycotton suit served me very well as a beginner but after two years of hard work it needed replacing. The silver tournament suit is an excellent upgrade. The weight and quality are superb although some of the stitching is not as straight as I would like. There is excellent movement and a nice 'snap' when doing kata. By Alice on 10th November 2014 Great suit, one has lasted me for well over 7 years before needing to be replaced. Comfortable fabric, good fit, easy to move in; I would recommend to anyone looking for a suit to train in regularly. By Simon Mills on 10th November 2014 A superb heavyweight suit. My only complaint is a lack of half sizes as I am a 5 top and 4 bottom (short legs, fat belly!) - a 4.5 would be a near perfect fit for me. By Bruno on 6th April 2014 I get the SILVER TOURNAMENT GI last week and it is a great ONE For Kumite as well as for Kata! The cotton quality is tough without being to heavy and the cut is great ! It is really a good deal for that price! I was very surprised because It looks as good as my old karate gis of a much more expensive price ! Let me suggest for thoses who lifts to much weight at the gym as me to take two size above. You will feel much more comfortable in you fighting training. I am 165cm for 80 kg (176 LBS) and I took the 175 that is perfect ! i just had to shortened the sleeves and length of the vest, the pants was ok. So if you need a great Gi for a good price and still with a cut above the rest ,then go for the SILVER !!! Just hope it will last ....Will tell you that in some years !!! All the best to the members of the BLITZ TEAM who are doing their best to give us satisfaction with our passion needs ! By Richard Smith on 7th December 2013 I've been training for around 13 years, and wearing the Silver Tournament Gi off and on for around 10 (I think i'm on my 3rd or 4th now). They are a great Gi for the price. Good snap for Kihon and Kata, and not restrictive so you can still get out of a tight spot in Kumite. I also cross train with my Judoka friend, and these are great for grappling work. Strong and hardwearing, never had problems with ripping. By Ken G Wylson on 9th October 2013 I got this suit after having 3-4 White Diamond Suits, but I wanted a change. I'm a KarateKa and as we practice Full Contact KnockDown Karate but we also have a lot of grappling in our style I needed something that would be able to take the punishment. The quality of the material and the stiching makes this the perfect companion to my style and its one that I recommend to my students who want a \"real\" Gi. And its not at a silly price like the Adidas or similar Gi's. By Karl Shaddick on 8th October 2013 I opted for wearing heavy weight suits a few years ago and I've never looked back!
The Silver tournament suit provides a great whip/crack noise on all kicks and punches making you stand out from anyone wearing a traditional light weight suit.
This is suit is a lot heavier than the tradional suits (so be warned) which I prefer (some times I regret wearing it at a grading, but it adds more the overall finesse then it takes away).
The suit is very hard wearing, I've got two of them, and they still look brand new.
One thing I have noticed is I had to get this suit 2 sizes smaller than I usually get and it has shrunk a little in the wash (always washed at 30).
5 out of 5 from me! By Kevin on 8th May 2013 Just received mine in just 48 hours from ordering over the Bank Holiday...very fast service. Gi looks to be well cut and very good quality at a reasonable price. By Black Panther Karate on 16th April 2013 Most of our advanced students who want to step up their new Gi's chose this for its reasonable price, easy fitting and great feel. A great Heavyweight Gi for the price too. By Ann Williams on 23rd January 2013 The silver tournament suit is a great suit and great value...I have previously purchased the Diamond Suit and this is just as good. By Tony Midgley on 25th October 2012 I have been wearing Silver Tournament Suits for well over 30 years and I find the Gi,s are Outstanding Quality Top Draw Tony Midgley 7th Degree Black Belt Ronin Yudansha Ryu By Phil on 27th June 2012 I found (as expected) that mine shrunk slightly. Despite the weight, there is no problem with movement. By Seamas Olabhradha on 21st December 2011 I had to send this suit back once as it had permenant looking blue stains on the jacket when I recieved it. So it cost me an extra bit of money to get it replaced. However it was well worth it and the customer service was very polite and helpful.
I bought this suit for my father as a present and when I took it out I noticed that the design of the suit has changed since the last one I bout. The suit I am using is a Silver Tournament suit from 2004 and I am still using it today. The new suit is a little different from mine but I like the changes. Both my own old suit and the new one are brilliant and stand out among all the other karate suits around me. By Chris Combs on 19th October 2011 For me this is a fab suit, before this I trained in a polycotton suit, the difference is massive. I opted for this as an upgrade because I didn't fancy the weight of the Dimond Suit and I don't regret it, it has snap and there is no riding up etc. I'm overall well impressed. It really does make a difference.
