Top customer reviewsBy Daniel rose on 5th August 2015 I was a little unsure on this one, but wanted something for my own training at home (I am a 4th Dan instructor) and after eventually assembling it, was quite pleased with it. The target pads are all adjustable and although the upright post seems a little rickety, the pads are flexible enough that you can kick right through them and not damage the post as the force isn't passed on but absorbed by the pad. There is something quite satisfying about being able to raise each pad by an inch or so and stretching kicks up a little further, something that you may not do on a pad. It works well indoors or with more space outside. Its good for creating combinations, such as clearing one pad with a block and punching another before the first springs back, so its not all about kicks. I would like some at my club, but storage space is an issue and if there was a downside, it is that its not really designed for a quick disassembly and whilst the heavy weighted base (when filled with water) works well, its also a disadvantage if you need to get it in and out of a cupboard. Overall I would recommend for personal use or anyone who is fortunate enough to own their own dojo. By Paul M on 5th August 2015 I love this - really helps with combination kicks, giving various heights to target. It can be set low so that my daughter can also train on it, or high. The top pad can be set well over 6'. The only slight frustration is that the fixed height mounting points for each pad alternate 90 degrees, which can limit the ability to position pads where you need... But with a bit of adjustment, you can get them pretty much where needed. Also, because the pads flex very easily, it doesn't need much weight in the base, which means it's easy to move around. By Yvonne Hill on 5th December 2013 I have found this item brilliant to use in class, at home and while out during promotions. At home one can practice without needing a helper. At the club students can practice and the instructors aren't constantly putting down kick shields to correct or instruct. While out at events, visitors to my stall frequently kick and punch away at it for ages. That alone attracts extra people. It can be adjusted for a variety of kicks and punches for many levels of student and excellence. By Andrew on 26th July 2013 A great product which has been very well designed with ease of use clearly in mind. All four target paddles take only 2-3 seconds to adjust their angles, and only 1 second when simply loosening them enough to drop flat (ready for neat and tidy storage). Additionally, the clamping mechanisms which attach the paddles to the center pole are far more secure than I had expected, leaving no possibility for slipping/rotating around during use, or even becoming detached. Personally, I used to use a makeshift punch ball with some foam tubing (plumbing insulators) attached via elastic bands, which worked well enough, but I can honestly say that this product is so much better and versatile to use than my home made device was, so is thus well worth the money in my opinion. Incidentally, I have been practicing a variety of martial arts styles for over 20 years and would honestly recommend this product to any martial artist whether new or experienced. One thing to be aware of before you decide to buy though is that the paddles themselves are not solid spring-loaded plastics, but merely flexible pieces of foam (just in case you were expecting the former rather than the latter). By C Briggs on 14th April 2011 I ordered this from the UK and it works a treat for my Taekwondo training at home. Filled the base with sand, tightened up the pads and away i go. My bro is into his capoeira and he loves working on this too. By Daniel on 26th October 2010 Good Design, Quite easy and flexible in terms of angles of pads...
Down side it upright is a little unstraight and pads can come off if the ends are not tied right
