Fists of fury! Try fists of steel....., 4/10/2010
By Patrick M Cunningham (, Ireland)

If you are serious about your martial arts training or boxing then this piece of apparatus is just what you need to develop iron hard knuckles (The painful way). When you are training in the dojo or the gym we always wear hand wraps and/or gloves to protect our hands. This is our downfall because we are not conditioning our knuckles for the streets and when you go from the padded gloves in the gym to a street fight without conditioned knuckles you are in trouble, when you are punching in the gym with your gloved fists you don't feel much, but when you strike some one in the face when bone meets bone and your knuckles are not conditioned then you're going to be in more pain than your assailant. You can do the usual training like push-ups on your knuckles to give you so called conditioning, but to no avail. This simple piece of training equipment is your godsend. I have been using this makiwara board for a few months now and I have seen and felt an incredible difference in my knuckles which are now hardened. The first time you use this board you will be in pain and the skin will actually break and peel and you will bleed but no pain no gain. The more you hit this thing the more you bleed but when the new skin grows back each time your knuckles get tougher and you do not even realize it. How I realized it was working is that every time I used it the more punishment my knuckles could take before bleeding and that was after two hundred punches each hand. If you want the advantage on the streets then your fists must be conditioned and this very inexpensive piece of equipment will give you the results you want in a very short space of time...... This is an essential piece of kit if you want to train seriously and mangle your assailants face while you still have your knuckles intact..... That's the bottom line forget, Fists of fury and Try Fists of steel....

Good piece of kit depending on the level you are at. I have found that the fixings on the rear have bent due to extreme use. I have replaced these with more substantial fixing and now you can't fault it. I have since purchased a second one for in the dojo but again, upgraded the fixings. They look great on the wall and add the finishing touch to any dojo!!
